responded to our 2021-2022 Student Survey

Q.

If your institute had a library where you could access files with a simple drag or a download link, how useful would this be?

"So much better than basic Final Cut Pro music, would let us focus more on actual editing than spending hours looking for the right track across the internet."

University student

"It would be brilliant, depending on the course and teacher, copyright and reuse of existing online assets would be discouraged."

GCSE student

"Extremely helpful, it would allow me to carry on working anywhere without having to find complicated ways to access my files"

A Level student

Q.

For your filming project, did you find there was enough music present for you to choose from?

GCSE student

"Not really, there was a small sample size and generic music."

"No, there was nothing to choose from."

"No it was very limiting, we could use Final Cut Pro’s overused sounds library, spend a lot of time searching the internet for royalty free samples to fit the mood of the project or spend a lot of time creating an actual track for the project, which can be difficult if you are not familiar with music production.."

GCSE student

"No, the music resource was limited."

A Level student

University student

"No, the college library was extremely limited and the music present in the library was rarely appropriate and sounded too cartoony or over dramatic to use."

Q.

Does the lack of a music resource effect creativity and thus final grades?

"I could easily argue yes. It's something that wasn't touched upon enough during my course even though music and sound are pivotal, it would have made my final project closer to professional."

College student

"Yes, music is a key part of the finished film, without it a film will struggle to convey accurate emotions and will lack some depth in scenes."

GCSE student

GCSE student

"Definitely, the limited and low quality music resources out there doesn't inspire creativity and can take away from the emotion you are conveying as the music may be too wacky or over-dramatic. High quality music could provide inspiration for your work and allow you to express your idea at a

higher standard."

"Whilst this could affect creativity I think it is considered in the marking process and doesn't harm final grades."

An interesting comment caught our attention...

Why is this important?

Though this student sheds light on how of the lack of a music resource "doesn't harm final grades", this student further highlights their teacher's lack of understanding to a needed resource.

This is an area Librari feels extremely passionate about aiding. As a collective we have a responsibility to support student's needs and actively look for new innovative ways help and improve standards within the education sector.

Students deserve a multitude of quality resources and institutes need the opportunity to provide them.

Founder

Hailing from South London, Jacob had spent lockdown creating music in a studio converted from a caravan with intentions to create a comprehensive digital resource for creative students up and down the country.

After gathering case studies and reviewing his idea with creative students, content creators and film enthusiasts, Jacob knew that royalty-free music for the education sector was a needed standard resource.

Now over 2 years on, Librari aims to sweep the nation with royalty-free music wherever institutes see fit.
